Amina of Zaria was a warrior queen in pre-colonial Nigeria, the first woman to become a queen in a male-dominated society. She trained and honed her skills and strategical acumen, and when both her father and brother died after their reign, she ascended to queen. She expanded her kingdoms territory to its largest in history, she never took a husband. She was powerful, confident, strong. This mandala screamed warrior queen as she came together, her name needed to reflect that. The mandala is a shield to the fire and strength in the background.
